An Alabaster sophomore who did not give up a touchdown all season, and the offers that followed.

With the Class of 2027 starting to take shape nationally, Micah Fleming (5-10, 175) was making a case as one of the top defensive backs in the country — offers from Arkansas State, Delaware State, Liberty, Mississippi State and North Carolina, and a sophomore season that did not give up a touchdown in coverage.

“It feels great to see my hard work pay off. It pushes me to finish the marathon.”

An elite playmaker in the secondary

The 2024 tape and the numbers behind it:

  • 66 tackles, 42 of them solo
  • 4 tackles for loss
  • 6 pass breakups
  • 1 interception returned for a touchdown
  • Zero touchdowns allowed in coverage

High football IQ, fluid technique and the ability to read an offense — the combination that makes a young defensive back worth projecting.

Why the offers started moving

Fleming credits much of the exposure to 5 Star Football Recruiting and Coach Isaac Hadac — getting his film in front of coaches around the country who had no reason to know an Alabaster sophomore existed.

What was next

“I stay dedicated by keeping the main goal the only thing. Working hard on my training, trusting the process, and keeping myself around the right people.”

He added a USC offer three months after this story ran. Read that one here.
